This Milton home received a complete, multi-level structural addition transformation executed seamlessly by the Almar Building & Remodeling team in collaboration with Beth Bourque Design. From reconfiguring the high-traffic first-floor footprint to modernizing the second-floor baths, this project showcases the power of a unified design-build approach to home remodeling on the South Shore.

The Homeowner’s Challenge

The original layout of this Milton residence lacked the functional flow and dedicated storage required for a busy growing modern family. An outdated exterior bump-out wasted potential living space, while the main entry provided no real organization for daily gear. Inside, the kitchen and living spaces felt disconnected, and the upper-level primary and hall bathrooms were severely outdated, lacking a cohesive, modern design.

Our Design-Build Solution

1. Structural Entryway Reconfiguration & Custom Mudroom

We began the home transformation by removing an underutilized, outdated exterior bump-out. In its place, our structural carpentry team constructed a highly functional, stylish mudroom entrance addition to the driveway side of the house. This new transition zone features a custom-built storage bench, integrated open shelving, hooks for daily gear, ample closet storage, and a newly added half-bath utilizing a space-saving pocket door.

2. First-Floor Kitchen and Living Room Overhaul

Moving inside, we revitalized the entire first-floor layout to establish an elegant, open-concept flow between the kitchen and family room.

  • The Kitchen: Completely remodeled to feature a large central island perfect for food prep, casual dining, or remote work, paired with an integrated custom workstation desk area.
  • The Living Space: Elevated with a custom fireplace surround, a dedicated wet bar/beverage station for entertaining, a cozy reading nook with flush-mount built-in storage, and a striking double-swing door that adds architectural elegance to the space.

3. Second-Floor Primary and Hall Bathroom Retreats

Upstairs, the Almar team stripped both the primary suite bath and the shared hall bathroom down to the studs for this renovation. We completely modernized the footprints to install a custom walk-in tile shower, dual-mirror vanities, premium plumbing fixtures, and contemporary finishes—turning both spaces into serene, spa-like retreats.

By coordinating the architectural plans from Rockwood Design Inc. with the beautiful interior selections and Design from Beth Bourque Design, Almar delivered a flawless, top-to-bottom home transformation.
