It’s Time for a Bathroom Makeover

Have you ever walked into a bathroom and felt like you were stepping back in time? Maybe it’s the outdated tiles, the forgotten color palette, or the plumbing fixtures that have seen better days. Here on the South Shore many of us have lived in all pink or all blue bathrooms. It’s amazing how quickly a bathroom can start to feel tired and old. But the great news is that a bathroom makeover can bring it back to life!
A bathroom remodel can be anything you want it to be. For some of our homeowners, it’s about creating a super functional, no-frills space. For others, it’s about designing a personal spa right in their home—a place to relax and pamper themselves. What does your dream bathroom look like?
Your vision, and your budget, will be your road map for the project. When you’re first starting to think about a remodel, we encourage you ask yourself:
- Do I want to work within the existing footprint of my current bathroom?
- Is it possible to expand my bathroom by taking space from an adjacent room?
- Would it be better to build an addition to get the new bathroom I really want?
These options vary quite a bit in complexity and cost. Remodeling within your current space is typically the most straightforward and least expensive option. Just keep in mind that moving plumbing fixtures is usually the most expensive part of a remodel, so we try to avoid it if we can. We also need to be mindful of building codes that dictate minimum clearances between and around fixtures for safety and accessibility.
If you have a spare bedroom or an underutilized closet, we could expand your current bathroom or even move it entirely. This might mean we need to move the plumbing, but it allows for a more modern and spacious design. This kind of upgrade can also significantly increase your home’s resale value.
Sometimes, an addition is the best way to get the bathroom you’ve always wanted. While it’s the biggest investment, it gives you the most flexibility to create a custom space that’s just for you.
Our Design and Development Agreement Process
No matter which option you choose, our team will be with you every step of the way. When we get to the point of turning your ideas into a detailed plan, we’ll enter into a design and development agreement.
This is a crucial step for both of us because it locks in the scope of work and the pricing. This process includes creating detailed designs, selecting all your materials, and getting firm prices from our trade partners and suppliers. When we finish this stage, you’ll have a clear, fixed-price proposal for the entire project. This ensures there are no surprises down the road, giving you peace of mind that what we’ve planned is exactly what we’ll build.
