5 Trending Remodeling Projects

When I’m networking or out and about in town, I often get asked what kind of remodeling projects people are doing. The answer is usually a variation of the same few projects. It’s always intriguing to see how some weeks, my calls are heavily focused on kitchen remodels, while other weeks are all about bathroom projects. Now that we’re heading into fall, it’s a great time to check in and see what’s been popular this year. After all, fall feels like a reset for many homeowners, who start thinking about the planning process for their next big project.

The five most popular projects we are seeing around Hanover and the South Shore include:

  1. Kitchen Remodels: Kitchen renovations remain the most popular project. People want us to focus on functionality and personalization.

    Trends include:
    Mixed-tone cabinetry,
Multi-functional kitchen islands with built-in appliances and seating,
Open shelving to create a more spacious feel

  1. Bathroom Remodels: Homeowners are turning their bathrooms into spa-like retreats.

Key features of these projects include:
    Walk-in showers,
    Heated floors,
    Natural lighting,
    Calming & earthy materials.

3. Whole-Home Remodels/Additions: A desire for flexible, multi-use spaces is driving larger projects. With more people working from home, homeowners are looking to reconfigure layouts to include dedicated home offices, workout areas, and other adaptable spaces.

4. Energy-Efficient Upgrades: With a focus on long-term value and sustainability, homeowners are investing in upgrades that reduce their environmental footprint and lower utility costs. This includes installing high-efficiency windows, insulation, and heat pump HVAC systems.

5. Outdoor Living Spaces: Extending the living space outdoors is a major trend. Homeowners are adding or renovating patios, decks, and outdoor kitchens to create integrated spaces for entertaining and relaxation, even in a New England climate.
