5 Tips to Making Project Selections

There are lots of things to think about when planning your remodeling project, but the fun part is making your selections! Colors, materials, tiles, flooring, the list goes on and one. This process should be exciting and help you see your vision starting to come to life. Our team wants to help make this as stress free as possible. That is why we have amazing vendors to help you make the right choice for you!

Here are some good tips to get you started:

1. Work with the Team.

Our Team can help direct you to our vendor partners and help you navigate the whole selection process. In addition we have some great designers we can connect you with if you need a little more direction and help putting everything together.

2. Make an Appointment.

Be sure to make an appointment with your selection vendor(s). This ensures they have the time to give you the proper attention. We can let you and our vendor(s) know of your allowances for each of the materials. This comes straight from your contract. Once you have your options you can compare them in Buildertrend and simply approve which items you want to move forward with.

3. Make decisions early.

According to Allison, “It’s important to make decisions as early in the process as possible. We want to be transparent and open about delays and why we want your selections to be made in advance.” Depending on the choices you make, some materials have longer lead times- which means that they just might take longer to arrive.

4. Reduce delays.

If choices are made as soon as possible in the planning stage, there will be fewer delays, because everything will already be lined up. Our team wants your project to stay on time and go forward without a hitch.

5. What happens next?

Now you might be wondering, “What happens with my selections once they are picked?” We will get the pricing for you to approve in Buildertrend.

  • Flooring: we hold on to the selections until we can get in the space and take measurements.
  • Plumbing Fixtures: order them once pricing is approved
  • Cabinetry: order once measurements are confirmed.

Our team at Almar hope this helped you understand the process of making selections and helped you feel more informed about your remodel.
