Kitchen Life: Organization and Storage.

The holidays is a time for family and friends, and not matter what you celebrate I bet you either found yourself in someone else’s kitchen or people spending time in yours. In many families, the kitchen becomes the heart of the home.

Families gather in the kitchen in the morning to start their day; kids play or do homework in the kitchen while parent prepares dinner; and it always seems to be the place that people gather during parties and family events.

Your kitchen ends up being more than just a functional room, it becomes a public place, and many kitchens are not designed for such current lifestyles. Which is just one of the many reasons that kitchen remodeling is on the rise!

When you think of good kitchen design what do you think of? Fabulous appliances, gorgeous cabinets, with the beautiful floors and countertops? That’s all true, but even though those items will eat up at least half of your budget they’re not the half of it!

Good kitchen design is about two far less exiting things: Organization and Storage.pass thru, Kitchen Remodel Sharon

In order to perform all your daily kitchen tasks quickly and easily, everything will need to be stored in places that create optimal organization. You should always consider your personal needs in designing a kitchen, and Almar has a survey that can help you get started.

What about kitchen offices or message centers? Because the kitchen is so central to many families’ lives now, many people are adjusting the layout of their kitchen to include a workspace for the family. Have you ever had peanut butter & jelly, or sauce smeared on you car keys, or your papers, or laptop? Have your countertops become a dumping ground for the daily mail, permissions slips and keys? Then you know exactly why kitchen offices have become so popular and you can probably benefit from one!

One other design feature that you must consider during your kitchen renovation is the “work triangle”. The work triangle makes up the space between the stove, refrigerator and the sink. Because most of the cooking takes place in this triangular space, it’s important not to place these appliances too close together or too far apart. You should also consider the likely traffic patterns with the new layout. How many people will normally be cooking at a time, who else will be in the space while cooking is happening.

Besides adding value to your home, a good kitchen remodel will increase the functionality of your house, increase the time and energy you have to spend with your family, and make being at home with your family more enjoyable!
