Project Spotlight: Small Changes Big Reward

Shower added to half bath

Sometimes the smallest project can make the biggest impact.   Almar recently got a call from a friend of a client that was looking to improve their ½ bath on the first floor.   They live in a 3 Bedroom 1 ½ bath house, but that one full bath was just not enough.

Having recently remodeled their ½ bath they didn’t want to tear apart the whole things.   Craig Guido, Project development, came in and met with them to discuss some options for the bath.

With plenty of wasted space in the existing ½ bathroom we were able to relocate and reuse the existing interior door and allow for a 36” shower unit to be installed in the existing bathroom cost effectively.

While the Building Department did make us upgrade the existing window to have tempered glass, that was easily done by ordering replacement sashes for the new Harvey Building Products vinyl replacement window that had been previously installed.  Thus, saving the time and expense of having to install a while new window.  With the installation of a nice prefabricated Shower unit and a Symmons Allura valve, the shower was completed.

This simple project was under 11K and but helped increase the value of the house immensely.  By taking the house from a 3 bedroom 1 ½ bath house… We were able to cost effectively bring to house to a 3-bedroom, 2 bath home.  A small change like this doesn’t just make the house value raise substantially related to cost, but it can also make living in the house much comfortable for the whole family.

New door access to now full bath
